- Henry resided with his parents in very small township of Ayton (Bloomfield River) during his youth attending Ayton Provisional School, later about 1914 he moved to Cooktown with his widowed mother and siblings where he worked for a plumber/ labourer and later early 1920's moved to Cairns where he worked for some years designing and installing blower systems to sawmills in and around the Cairns hinterland( during these years in Cairns he built and sold a number of houses and married).

- He was evacuated about 1942 with his wife and daughter to New South Wales during WW2 with the threat of Japanese invasion (at that time they resided 29 Clare Street Cairns Qld).
- Family initially resided at Potts Point ( a Sydney Harbourside Suburb) upon arrival 1942 before moving to Concord (another Sydney Suburb) & eventually Burwood where they purchased a home during 1943.
- For many years there was some confusion as to spelling up Surname with “ Eyre” used instead of “ Eyres” ; which prompted him to formerly by Deed Poll during Jan 1960 renounce Eyre and forever after use Eyres
