About Henry Gildersleeve, Sr.
Henry was a noted shipbuilder like his father Philip, minute man of the Revolution, and his grandfather, Obadiah, Sr., both Refugees of 1776 from Long Island. Henry was noted as the "Father of Navigation upon the Bay of Quinte", settling in Bath, Ontario, July 1, 1816, and later Kingston, being the first to build and launch a steamship on the upper St. Lawrence River.
