About Henry Hawking
of Linton, Ellenthorpe and Scarborough.
Originally member of the Church of England (Anglican), he became a Methodist.
He took Ellenthorpe Lodge for his son John.
He retired and he and his wife Ann (nee Matterson) settled in Scarborough and became generous supporters of Methodism there.
Henry Hawking of Ellenthorpe is mentioned in the Journal of the Royal Agricultural Society of England
