About Henry Joseph Adams
End is Sudden
Henry Adams of Millbury a Sufferer From Heart Trouble
Millbury, July 17 1902. Henry Adams, a long time resident of Millbury , died suddenly at his home, Canal Street, at 9:30 this morning, of heart disease. Mr Adams left his work at the Bowden felting mill at 10 o’clock Tuesday night, feeling unable to work , but not considered sick. Yesterday he remained at home. This morning, he complained of feeling weak and Dr. J.R. Lincoln was called. The physician saw him at 8:30 and left some medicine for him, telling Mrs Adams the heart action was slow and weak, and if Mr Adams should appear worse at noon, to send for him.
At 9:30, Mr Adams, who had been sitting on a couch in the kitchen, asked his wife to bring a Morris Chair from the sitting room for him to sit in. She did so, and he changed his seat, after which Mrs. Adams adjusted a pillow at his back that he might rest as comfortably as possible.
This was no sooner accomplished than Mr Adams put his hand to his face dying instantly. Mrs. Adams was overcome but neighbors were at hand to comfort her. Mr. Adams was born at St. Johns, Canada, Nov 4 1858. When eight years old, he came to Millbury, where he has lived since, working 26 years in the Cordis mill, and the past three years in the Bowden Felting mill. He was married May 20, 1887 to Miss Jennie Mitchell of Millbury, who survives him. There are also three children, James H., Etta M., and Everett F, all living in Millbury. He leaves in addition to these, three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Victoria LaJoice, Mrs. Amelia Noe, and Mrs. E. R. Crossman, Worcester: Peter Adams, Worcester; Joseph, Millbury, and Frederick, living at St. Johns, Canada.
Mrs. Adams said her husband had trouble with his heart 22 years ago, and she feared at the time she would not recover, but he came out of that attack al right, and has worked steadily since. He was a member of St. Bridget’s parish. The funeral arrangements are delayed until tomorrow, awaiting word from his relatives.
