Henry Joseph Alfred Skorbinski, originating from Głogów (Gross-Glogau) in Silesia (his father, Wilhelm Skorbinski, he was a fishing master on the Oder river). His ancestors originated probably from area north of Głogów in Poznań (Greater Poland) region, where surname Skorupiński is very popular (name distribution in Poland). 'Skorupiński' came to 'Skorbinski' under the influence of German language in German speaking Głogów. Skorbinski came to Cape Colony along with other veterans of the British German Legion in 1857 and ultimately settled in Uniondale, where he died in 1887.
