About Henry Henrik Chaim Kahn
Henry (Heinrich) and his brother Naftule Hersh were the only two children of Beres Kahan and Dvoyra Josipovits to immigrate to the United States. Henry landed at Ellis Island in July 1903, after leaving his wife and two small children in her home town of Avas Ujvaros, Szatmar megye. The passenger manifest for the SS Pennsylvania states that Chaim Cahan, age 33, from Maramarossziget , arrived at Ellis Island with $2.50 in his pocket. Henry moved into a building at 79-81 Cannon Street where several members of his mother's family lived and his cousin Sara Josipovits Goldstein had a restaurant.
