Note: Daughter Lovina and son Thomas J. independently give their father's birthplace as NC in the 1880 census. The 1830 census gives his DOB as 1790-1800.

   From Donnie Whittenberg, daughter of Orabelle Kivett Easter and great-great grandaughter of Henry Kivett II, to Mrs. Worth at the Asheboro (NC) Public Library:
   "We visited later the Mt. Pleasant Church and cemetery, commonly called the Kivett Church, which was built by Henry Kivett. We found the graves of our earlier ancestors and many distant relatives who were buried there.
   "All this land was once a hughe plantation which comprised a store, store-room, negro slave homes and a large tanning yard. The store and store-room are still standing; and the old tan yard is in evidence, although in the last years has been used as a water hole for cattle."

Note: "...was a private in the company commanded by Capt Joshua Cravin in the Seventh Regiment of Detached malitia from North Carolina in the service of the United States Commanded by Col. J. Pearson in the war with the United States vs. the Creek Indians in the year 1814. That he voluntered in Randolph County N.Ca on or about July or Augt 1812 for the term of two years and entered the service of the United States about Jany 1814 (February 1, 1814)and continued in actual service about something over six months and was honorably discharged on the 8th day of Augt 1814 (July 31, 1814) at Salisbury N.Ca (and that his discharge has been mislaid or lost)...He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act granting _____ lands to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States ____ Sept 28th 1850...." 10

Note: A number of relatives vouched for Henry's, and later, Sarah's, applications for pension and land due Henry for his service during the War of 1812: Meredith Kivett (his son); James Franklin Scotten; Peter C. Kivet (son of Sidney Scotton and Zimri Kivet); Mary McDaniel, "being a sister to the Said Henry Kivet and living at the house of my father at the time of the alledged marriage of the said Henry Kivet and Wife Sarah but was not an eye witness to the same she states that she was about twelve years old when her brother Henry Kivet soldier as aforesaid brought the said Sarah his alledged Wife home in company with several others all on horse back....;" Daniel Kivett (son of Jacob (2g) and nephew to Henry).



Henry was the second of nine children born to John Matthew and Rosanna (Aldridge) Kivett. He married Sarah 'Sally' Vestal in 1817 and they had fifteen children: David Wacaster, John William, Hannah, Henry Enos, David L., Thomas Jefferson, Rebecca Roseanna, Andrew Jackson, Emily J., Mary, Steven Wayland, Vestal, Lovina, Meridith D. and Lucy Ellen.
