HENRY MARTIN COFFEEN, son of Milo Lester and Martha (Martin) Coffeen, was born in Chicago, 1ll., January 19, 1880, and, after preparation in St. Paul's School, Concord, N. H., took the Select course in the Sheffield Scientific School. He rowed with the winning crew in his Freshman year at New London. After graduation he entered the banking and brokerage business in Chicago with Granger Farwell & Co., and in 1903 removed to New York and was General Manager of their New York office until the summer of 1905, when he was compelled by illness to retire. Under the care and advice of his physicians he tried the climate of the Adiron- dacks without benefit, and, in January, 1906, returned to Chicago. Mr. Coffeen died of tuberculosis at his home in Chicago, May 15, 1906, at the age of 26 years.
