About Henry Noyes
When a young man, he was in charge of the United States barracks at Greenbush, New York. He settled at Troy, and was one of the early navigators of the river, owning and running sloops on the Hudson River carrying freight. He amassed a considerable fortune, part of which was lost later through kindness to friends.
