Father: "Pegram" (a white man); presumed to be George H. Pegram (1810-1854), who was a Lieutenant in the Army, stationed at Fort Crawford between 1833-1837.
Henry first appears on the 1850 census in Prairie du Chien, Crawford County, Wisconsin (location of Fort Crawford 1816-1856). He was 13 years old and living with the William Logan family.
On the 1860 census, he is married to Theresa and they have a daughter named Theresa. Neither Theresa can be found after this census.
Henry married Ellen Caroline Gilson in Waupaca County on 7 Oct 1865.

Enlisted from Keshena, WI, on 1 Mar 1862. Promoted to Corporal. Wounded at Vicksburg, 19 May 1863. The regimental roster states that he deserted on 28 Jun 1864.

When the Guyants surveyed the cemetery in the 1970s, they noted that there was a "US VETERAN" medallion placed at his grave, but no headstone. Today, the medallion is also missing.
The red square in the photo designates the approximate location of his grave.
