About Henry Crandall Rosecrans
Henry volunteered in 1847 for the War with Mexico. He served 15 months with General Zachary Taylor and for his service received a Land Grant in Iowa. After his marriage to Elizabeth Dickey, she lived with her parents while Henry went west with his uncle to stake his claim in Iowa. When they got there, gold was found in California so the men headed west. Finally, he returned to Ohio , got his wife and moved to Iowa where he became a miller.
