About Henry "Harry" Swain
GEDCOM Note
On Harry Swain's birth certificate Thomas Swain's occupation was listed as "gas company labourer", and the informant was Selina Swain, who made her mark on the certificate rather than signing it. At the time the family lived at 87 Kingsdown road, Islington.
Harry Swain had no children. He lived with his mother until at least 1924. Grandad (Reginald Rowe, who visited him in 1924) recalled him as a "fine man", who fought in World War One.
At the time of his death in 1946 he resided with Les, Winifred and Gerald Clark at 226 Botwell Lane, Hayes, Middlesex. Gerald has kept a receipt for Harry Swain's funeral expenses, an "account for supplying oak finished English Elm coffin, fully lined and furnished with S.B. breatplate and fittings; arranging for purchase of private grave at Cherry Lane Cemetery; supplying motor hearse, limousine and bearers; Personal services."
