HENRY TUGWELL, born October 7, 1670, Middlesex County, Virginia, died January 3, 1743, Middlesex Virginia. leaving a will written January 2, 1742, which was signed Henry Tugle. His descendants have since been known by the name of Tuggle. He was a man of substance and active in the affairs of the parish and the county.

He married 1 August 26. 1692, Mary Baskett, daughter of John and Elizabeth Baskett. Her death date is unknown. He married (2) on October 31, 1710, Elizabeth Baldwin Browne, a widow with two children, daughter of William and Margaret (Cook) Baldwin.

Frances Tuggle, 1702-1731, married William Mansfield. 4, HENRY TUGGLE, Jr. c. 1699-1733. 5. John Tuggle, 1704-1759, married Catherine Kelley. 6.Elizabeth Tuggle c. 1706-1724, married Henry Ball. 7. Martha Tuggle, c. 1717 - married George Chewning. 8. Judith Tuggle, c. 1710. married William Baldwin.

The children of Henry Tuggle's second marriage to Elizabeth B. Browne. 9. Joseph Tuggle, c. 1711-1745, married a Berry. 10. Rachel Tuggle, 1715-1747, married John Chowning. 11. Thomas Tuggle, III, 1717-1754, married? 12. Ann Tuggle, never married - 1720-1757. 13. Benjamin Tuggle, 1721-1749, evidently unmarried. 14. William Tuggle. 1725-1751, evidently unmarried.
