About Henry Wood
Note: Henry Wood/Atwood has been disconnected from his father, John Atwood/Wood the leather seller. For many years this was considered the correct family connection. There were no birth records in Colonial Plymouth for Henry and his siblings, who were born in Surrey England. However, there is circumstantial evidence that they are from the the same family. Henry Wood/Atwood died about 30 Sept 1670. Two sources say that Henry was 55 at death, which would make his date of birth in 1615. At that time his family was living in Surrey England.
John Atwood/Wood ( known as the leather seller) married Joan Coalson in Saint Martin Church 25, July, 1612. They had two sons known to be baptized at St Martin Church, Harman, 1613, and John, 24 Dec, 1614. Following the birth of their second son, the family removed to Chancery Lane, London, where they remained until 1631, Chancery bills stopped in 1631. John and Joan then removed to Plymouth Colony.. C A Atwood (Source: Chancery Bills And Answers)
Charles A. Atwood, says of John Atwood (b. 1614), Henry Wood/Atwood, (b circa 1615/16) and Stephen Atwood, (b circa 1619), "they may be brothers," Atwood Annals, and Elijah Francis Atwood says "I concede that they are brothers." source: Ye Atwood Annals
Therefore, I have added back an unknown father for Henry, with the caveat Henry Atwood/Wood's father may be a son or descendant of Nicolas Atwood (1539-1589) and Olive (Harmon) Atwood, (1527-1603).
Parents are unknown.

Disputed Origins
Henry Wood is seen as the son of John Atwood who died "February 27, 1644 in Plymouth" per GENI. Yet there is no birth record for a Henry Wood or Atwood. And there are no land records showing a relationship of father and son. There are no court records showing they were father and son. Alicia Crane Williams, FASG writes "...we do not find any evidence in the material published in "Ye Atte Wode Annals" to prove the claims of the parentage for any of the Atwoods or Woods of Plymouth..." She points out that there were two John Atwoods/Woods in early Plymouth, the more prominent of whom was called "gentleman." He served as Assistant (to the governor) in Plymouth Colony and in other government posts, but died apparently childless. His will dated 20 Oct 1643 and presented for probate 5 Jun 1644, mentions only his wife Anne, 'my little kinsman William Crowe and my brother and sister Lee and their two children Ann and Mary'. The second John Wood left a will dated 22 Nov 1675 which was probated 7 Mar 1675 and he also made no mention of a brother or son Henry Wood. That Henry Wood is somehow related to the other Woods/Atwoods of Plymouth I don't doubt. But we have no evidence to say exactly how.
Date arrived Plymouth Colony
Henry Wood/Atwood and Stephen Atwood/Wood arrived Plymouth Colony before 16 August 1641. Source= date on deeds grated to Henry Wood and Stephen Atwood for land at Lout Pond.
