Offices Held

J.p.q. Suss. from c.1601; sheriff, Surr. and Suss. 1607-8.

Biography Though Morley was on good terms with Thomas Sackville, Lord Buckhurst, lord lieutenant of Sussex, his own standing was sufficient to ensure his being returned to Parliament for both Winchelsea (where his uncle Herbert Pelham and his father were jurats) and for New Shoreham, some dozen miles from Glynde. So far as is known he took no part in the business of the Parliaments. He died 15 Oct. 1610. His will, leaving £100 to Lewes for the benefit of ‘poor new married folks and young beginners’, was proved in the same month, and confirmed by sentence in November 1611.
