About Herbert Tenzer
https://www.nytimes.com/1993/03/25/obituaries/herbert-tenzer-ex-con... One of the most illustrious twentieth-century members of the family is Herbert Tenzer.
Herbert, an attorney, is one of the great leaders in charitable, religious, and Israeli causes in New York and in the nation. He served two terms in the United States House of Representatives. He declined to run for a third term because his wife, Florry, wanted his companionship at home.
At the time of his departure, President Lyndon Johnson and the leading members of the Congress tendered him a rare ovation. Herbert has served as president of the UJA of Greater New York, the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, Fight for Sight, the Yeshiva of Crown Heights, and many other organizations.
Following World War II, he organized Rescue Children, Inc., which under-took the rescue of thousands of Jewish war orphans in Europe. He also led our family's efforts to save our relatives from the Nazi scourge during the years 1930 to 1945. Many relatives were successful in reaching safety through these efforts.
