About Herman Karl Friedrich BLADOW
http://boards.ancestry.netscape.com/localities.northam.usa.states.w... they all came from Schlagenthin, Kreis Arnswalde, Brandenburg, which is SE and not far from Stargard, Pommern. The Family History Library has a church book on microfilm for Schlagenthin; perhaps it holds the answers we're seeking. It's only to 1854, but may help with the earlier generations of Leists. Alwine/Alvina (Gumz) Beduhn Leist was my grandfather's first cousin.
As for the Bladow/Bloedow families, two or three of the children of William and Johanna (Abraham) Miller of the Wonewoc area married into two different North Dakota Bladow families. Johanna was also a first cousin of my grandfather (and of Alvina). I began trying to sort out the various Bladow families that lived in Dodge County prior to moving to Juneau County (Herman and his brother Carl/Charles), North Dakota and elsewhere, so that I could place these children in the proper families. I also researched the family of Minnie Belitz, Herman Bladow's first wife, because she seemed to me to have been neglected by everyone (probably mostly because her parents are named TOTALLY incorrectly on her death record and in the cemetery book). I followed two of Herman and Minnie's children to Canada (in the records) as well.
Minnie (Wilhelmine) Belitz came from Stettin, Pommern, and probably knew Herman Bladow before she came to the U.S. You'll find their Cook County marriage record (probably Chicago) in the IGI (the actual image can be found in the record search pilot), and you'll also find them and their first three children living with Minnie's parents in Iowa in 1880.
Herman Bladow was also born in Stettin. I've just located birth/christening records for him and seven siblings in the extracted church records of the German IGI (familysearch.org). I've not yet located the ship's list for Herman's family, but I did find them in Dodge County in the 1870 census (mis-indexed as "Blodora"). The entry actually reads Blodorn (umlaut missing), and I've noticed that Blodorn (with umlaut)/Bloedorn seems to be more or less the same as Bloedow. I suspect that Bloedorn is the earlier form of the name, and that is the surname of Herman's family in Pommern.

Hi Anne.
I did not find an article on Gustav Miller family, but the following article
is on your Great-grand parents in the History of Richland County book and
the same article in the Hankinson Centerrial book. I thought it maybe of
interest to you.
Good luck in your search.

BLADOW, Friedrick: History of Richland County, 1977, Page 128
Friedrick Bladow (1830-1918) and his wife, Wilhelmina (Grohnke) of Rosenow,
Pomerina Province, Germany, arrived in America about 1 871 settling at Iron
Ridge, Wisconsin. Accompanied by their children Fredericka, Augusta, Albert,
Wilhelmina, August and Charles.
The trip across the ocean took about 3 months and was recalled as much
tossing of the boat because of high winds; some days losing as much distance
as they had gained the day before and of course, limiting their food and
water supply.
Mary Louise was born in Iron Ridge and later children born were Lizzie,
Gustave, and Fred. Their daughter Augusta (1862-1 944), Mrs. Carl Bladow and
her brother Albert (1864-1951) settled north of Hankinson.
In 1880-1881, the family members and the parents followed except Fredericka
and Wilhelmina, who remained for their double wedding to August Pankow and
Herman Prochnow in January 1882, at Hubbard, Wisconsin. The Friedrick Bladow's
homesteaded on Section 1, in Brightwood Township where a grandson, Raymond
Bladow, now resides. They lived there until 1 903 when Wilhelmina passed
away. Friedrick Bladow passed away in 1918.
Children were: Fredericka (1860-1936) married August Pankow in 1882, Herman
BelIin 1891; Augusta (1862-1944) married Carl Bladow, later Herman Kamke;
Albert (1864-1951) married to Helen Bellin in 1886; Wilhelmina (1886-1951)
married Herman Prochnow; August (1868-1 954) married to Ernestina Hoefs in
1889; Charles (1870-1938) married to Gusta Gaedcke in 1892; Mary Louise
(1873-1961) married William Wurl; Dorothy Friederike (Liza) (1875-1907)
married to Gustav Miller; Gustav (1 870) married Ida Pribbernow, died in
Canada; Fritz or Fred (1878-1888) died after falling off a grain wagon. By
