About Herman Delman
Note: There are 3 Hymen/Hyman Nudelmans: Hyman (half sibling to Joseph 1884-1949), Hymen ( “HB” son of Joseph 1886-1962) and Hymen->Herman Delman ( grandson of Joseph 1895-1955)
Joined the Marine Corp shortly after the beginning of World War 1
Sent by his father who was in the shoe business to New York for a buying trip. He decided to stay there, changed his name to Herman Delman, and became a very successful shoe manufacturer and retailer of Delman shoes.
Lori Delman found the paperwork for name change from Nudelman to Delman: February 1926 in a courthouse in the Borough of Manhattan, Max legally changed his name from Max Nudelman to Max Delman. I had always wondered when Sam Nudelman's sons changed their name. The brothers followed Herman's decision to change his name when he established Delman Shoes, a highend women's shoe company in NYC
