"In 1587 Hieronymus Francken attended the wedding of the Antwerp painter Jean Jossens with the Rouennaise Magdeleine Besongne. The marriage contract is interesting because it shows the social network of the couple and reveals a great mix among the witnesses. Among the friends of the groom, the goldsmith Herman Mesebroeck and Hieronymus Francken are the only Dutch."

"In the case of Hans van Queborn, also settled on the Île de la Cité, the choice of his domicile was undoubtedly dictated by the domicile of his in-laws. In 1585 he was described as "master painter in Paris residing in the Marché-Neuf, parish of Saint-Germain-le-Vieil" when he married Sara, daughter of the master goldsmith Herman "Mesebruich", in the presence of several other goldsmiths."
