About Hezekiah Whitt

source

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Whitt-232

"According to his Revolutionary War pension application, Hezekiah Whitt was born in South Carolina in 1760. The family then moved to a place called Stewart's Creek in North Carolina, and then settled in Montgomery County, Virginia. Hezekiah served four times in the Revolutionary War. In June of 1776 or 1777 (Hezekiah was uncertain) he was drafted for a few months. He later volunteered and served in Col. Campbell's campaign against the Cherokee Indians, and then served again in 1779 and 1780. [1] He married a woman named Rachel (surname unknown), and was the father of children including James [2] Susannah, and Jonas. Hezekiah had settled in Tazewell County, Virginia by 1802 when he appears on a tax record there, [3] and was still living there when he filed his pension application in 1831. [4]

Hezekiah died in 1846 and is buried at the Whitt-Lowe Cemetery, Tazewell County. [5] His estate was appraised in May of that year. [6] "

Speculation

For all we know this Hezekiah Whiit may have rescued & /or recovered orphans after a conflict. Two included: Hezekiah Whitt (Low Hawk) and Thomas Bailey Christian .

Keep in mind: No one has a record of the original birth names of these children dating back to their origins. It seems likely that the first of these children was given his name.
