HIRAM SHIPLEY
Hiram R. Shipley, 79, of Purcell, Clearville, RD 2, died suddenly yesterday at his home.
Born in Mann Township, Bedford County, Pa., he was a son of the late George B. and Lavina (Miller) Shipley. His wife, Laura (Leasure) Shipley, preceded him in death.
Mr. Shipley was a farmer and sold produce in Cumberland over the past 60 years.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ada Kennard, Star Route Everett; Mrs. Melba Clingerman, Perryopolis, Pa.; Mrs. Irene Smith, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Potts, Artemas; three sons, Walter F. Shipley, Artemas; Earl M. Shipley, Clinton, N.J., and Leo H. Shipley, Cumberland; 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Conner Funeral Home, Everett, where friends will be received today from 7 until 9:30 p.m. It will then be removed to the late residence at Purcell where friends will be received after 1 p.m. tomorrow.
A service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Fairview United Church of Christ. Rev. Walter M. Twigg will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
