Hon. Harriet Ella Gifford was born in 1847. She was the daughter of Robert Francis Gifford, 2nd Baron Gifford of St. Leonard's and Hon. Swinburne Frederica Charlotte FitzHardinge Berkeley.1 She married Lt.-Col. Hon. Archibald Charles Henry Douglas-Pennant, son of Edward Gordon Douglas-Pennant, 1st Baron Penrhyn of Llandegai and Juliana Isabella Mary Dawkins-Pennant, on 5 January 1865.1 She died on 12 February 1942.1

From 5 January 1865, her married name became Douglas-Pennant.2
