About Hon. Henry Wodehouse
The following entry appears in the Register, dated 20 Aug. 1873 :— Memorandum.—At the request of the widow, Mrs. Wodehouse, I read the funeral service of the Church over the remains of the Honourable Henry WodeHouse, First Secretary of H.B.M. Legation here (the body being prepared to be sent to England for interment). Mr. Wodehouse died early in the morning of the 20th August. The persons present were MTM Wodehouse, Mr Baring (3rd Secretary of Legation), Miss Maria Muir, & the servants of the deceased.

On the north wall of the chancel an oval white marble tablet, surrounded by a wreath on a background of black marble:—In | memory of | the Honble | Henry Wodehouse | Acting Charge d'Affaires | of H.M. Legation | who died of fever at Athens | August 20"', 1873 | aged 39 years. | As a record of his | incomparable nature | which rendered him beloved | by all who knew him | and of her unspeakable | and undying love for him | this Tablet is erected | by his wife.
