Having been honored by the Public confidence from his youth to his advanced age, & employed in the Public confidence from his youth to his advanced age, & employed in variious grades of office untill he was called to the higher duties of Magistracy. After a life of great usefulness in Church & State, he died in a good old age regretted, beloved & lamented. He was the son of Judge John and Mary (Collins) Hamlin, and the grandson of the Hon. Giles and Hester (Crowe) Hamlin. Per Connecticut Town Marriage Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection), he married first, Mary Christopohuson 19 Nov 1729; second, Margaret Phillipson 6 Dec 1736; third, Abigail Chauncey on 5 April 1749; and fourth,Susannah Newton on 21 Sept 1771.
