" But there are black sheep in the Lederach family tree. Take ancestor Jacob Reiff (1734-1816), a wealthy man and, according to the township census, a slave holder. "He wasn't looked upon too well in those times even though he was a state representative," says Lederach, whose Mennonite ancestors frowned on slavery. "

Reiff of ambler Pa 10/3/1981} "Jacob Reiff, Jr. was a well respected man in Montgomery Co., a member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly for several years, and the father of Benjamin Reiff, who was also a member of the State assembly. Jacob shared his father's estate with his brother George, and retained the family grist mill. He had seven children. His family bible can be seen at the Schwenkfelder Library, Pennsburg."
