Hope Hawley

On Dec. 13, 1708 of record at Middletown, Conn., Jehiel Hawley married Hope Stow/Stowe, the only surviving child of Ichabod Stow and Mary Atwater, b. of record Oct. 30 (bp. Nov. 4), 1694 at Middletown. She d. as his widow Jan. 23, 1763 and is buried in that part of Middletown (since 1866 the separate Town of Middlefield), Conn. They had four known children recorded at Middletown but all baptized at Durham, Conn. where the children's maternal grandmother then resided: Mary, Hope, Samuel Stow, and Hannah.

Hope (Stowe) Hawley was granted administration of her husband's estate Sept. 5, 1727. His estate inventory was taken Jan. 2, 1727/8 amounting to £156-18-06 [Hartford Prob. Dist. files].
