Horace Burras Royce of Irasburg Vt born May 7 1806 was married Sept 25 1831 in Strafford Vt to Sarah Judd. They immediately went to Irasburg where he had worked for years in a mill for dyeing & dressing woolen fabrics. His wife assisted in the factory. They remained in Irasburg several years the two older children being born there. They then journeyed Westward to Genesee Co. N.Y. in 1834 and in 1838 they moved to Burlington Wisconsin making the trip by team & wagon. After a few years they went on a farm at Janesville Wis where they spent several years. In 1860 they moved to Poweshiek Co Ia being happily rewarded securing a section or more of land. When this aged couple needed quiet & rest their children built a cottage near the home of the eldest son & here this aged couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Sept 25 1881 with all their children and grandchildren attending. On August 25 1883 the father was called away at the age of 77 and after 18 yrs the mother was called Jan 12 1901 at the age of 94 years. Both are buried in the cemetery at Malcom, Iowa, Poweshiek Co.
