Howard is the son of Lewis Delroy Catlin and Emma Vilate Tanner.
Married Carol Craner March 6, 1942 Mesa, Maricopa, Arizona.
He was born in Oakley, Idaho, the last of twelve children. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was raised in San Diego; joined the Air Force during World War II, "which began a 30-year career as a bomber pilot and flight instructor."
He loved to travel, play tennis and racquetball, fix cars and do home repairs for his family and neighbors.
Survived by his wife; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral and interment were held Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Val Verda 8th Ward Chapel, 2651 N. 500 W. Bountiful. (Source: Deseret News, September 9, 1999, Local: Page B6)
