Age 78 died Thursday in a New York City hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Manchester N.H. Oct 3 1903, son of Geroge and Marion (Kitchen) McConnell.
He had lived in Palmyra for the past six months, previously living in Pittsfield. He was employed by the Hartland Tannery for over 20 years. For many years he was a crossing guard in Pittsfield. He was a member of the Phlentoma Lodge IOOF and also served with the U.S, Army and Navy during World War II and a member of the Jehovah Witnesses in Corinna.
He is survived by three sons, Frank of Poland, James of AYER, Mass, and Scott of Etna, one daughter Anitley of Pittsfield, one half-brother Richard Mason of Oregon, nine grandchildren and two nieces.
