REVEREND MR. HUGH CRAWFORD

Minister of the Gospel at New Cumnock in Ayrshire

The Reverend Mr. Hugh Crawford is the fourth son of Patrick Crawfprd of Auchinames and Jane Craufurd, the heiress of Crosbie. He was educated at Univ. of Glasgow; M.A. (1648); admitted to New Cumnock before 1653 ; deprived by Act of Parliament dated 11 June, and Decreet of Privy Council dated 1 October 1662. He had sasine of the lands of Garrive in July 1669. He became indulged minister at Riccarton in 1672, and afterwards held a charge in Ireland. He returned here at the Toleration, He died in May 1692, aged about 64. He married Eupham Cunningham, daughter of John Cunningham of Baidland, and widow of the Reverend William Cunningham, Minister of the Gospel at West Kilbride.
