About Hugh Ashley Glenn

Sabetha Herald obituary Hugh Ashley Glenn, eldest son of John Thomas and Ermine Ashley Glenn was born near Sabetha, November 17, 1885, and passed away at his home in Sabetha, December 2, 1960, aged 75 years, fifteen days. On February 24, 1909, he was united in marriage to Coloma Jane Record, to which union seven children were born. A daughter died at birth, and a son, Willis Owen, passed away in 1930 at the age of eleven years. On September 11, 1950, Mrs. Glenn also passed away. On December 4, 1955, he was married to Mrs. Mary Whitaker of Wetmore. His entire life was spent in the Woodlawn and Sabetha communities. He engaged in the business of farming, from which he retired only last year because of his failing health. In March of this year Mr. and Mrs. Glenn moved to their present home in Sabetha. As a young man he made profession in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour and has been an active faithful member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church, recently transferring membership to the Sabetha Baptist Church. To mourn his passing he leaves his wife, Mary, three sons; Dwight and Leon of Topeka, Kansas, Paul of Golden, Colo., two daughters, Wanda, Mrs. Thomas Hagen of Denver, Colo., and Donna, Mrs. O.L. Humphrey of the Woodlawn community. Survivors also include twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother, James of Topeka, a sister, Mrs. Nell Ziehlke, of Kansas City, Kansas, and two stepsons, Paul and Lyle Whitaker, of Wetmore. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the Baptist Church conducted by the pastor. Rev. Stanley Black assisted by Rev. LeRoy Davis. Mrs. Black sang "God's Tomorrow" and "End of the Road." Mrs. Harlan Deaver was accompanist. Mrs. Dan Strahm and Mrs. William Elliott were in charge of flowers. Casket bearers were Earl Reed, Gale King, Virgil McClain, Morris Talley, Dan Strahm, Bill Elliott, Floyd Althouse and Norman Spiker. Interment was in Sabetha cemetery.
