" The McManus family came from County Lietrum, Ireland to Fort Bidwell in the 1870's. Hugh and Margaret McManus established their ranch on the east side of Fort Bidwell, and property in Adel. Their son Jay McManus inherited the ranch upon the passing of his father Hugh in 1920, and daughter Ellen McManus Cahill the ranch in Adel. The McManus family ranched in Fort Bidwell until the 1950's when it was sold to Phil Peterson. Doug Bucher and family lived at the home site for many years. "
