About Hugh Queech, of London
Hugh Quetche, born circa 1346 in Woodmansterne, Surrey
Notes
In 1375 Cecily, widow of Sir Roger Seymour and wife of Richard Turberville, conveyed her share to William de Broughton and others, in trust, and five years later sold to Hugh Quetche, under the style of "all her rights in the Manors of Woodmansterne and Chipsted." The other moiety, belonging to her sister's son, John Meryent, descended on his death, in 1380, to his daughter Elizabeth, wife of Sir John Seymour. From this time the Manor became divided and subdivided, so that it is not easy to trace it. (1)
