About Hugh Rogers
Hugh's last name as recorded in the Mennonite Church membership records was Rogers (without "d"). When he applied for a 300 acre NC land grant in 1753 in Anson Co it was recorded int he NC land grant records as Rogers. However there is an error in the NC Land Grant database. His grant truly was in 1753 however the date was transcribed incorrectly as 1853.
He and his wife had 9 children Martha, Elizabeth, James, John, Sarah, Margaret, Robert, Frances and Hugh.
His son John never moved to NC. He is Col John Rodgers, one of the members of 9, all local military men that established the Hanover Resolves in June 1774, one year before the Mecklenburg Resolves were written and 2 years before the Declaration of Independence July 4 1776.
