Biography

Humphrey Davie was baptised on 24 August 1625.1 He was the son of Sir John Davie, 1st Bt. and Juliana Strode.2 He married, firstly, Mary White, daughter of Edmund White, before 25 May 1655.1 He married, secondly, Sarah Gibbons, daughter of William Gibbons, on 14 December 1683.1 He died on 18 February 1688/89 at age 63.

He was a merchant at London, England.1 He emigrated to New England, U.S.A., arriving on 1662 as a Puritan.1 He was Commissioner of Massachusetts, and organised Devon County in 1664.1 At Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A., (an unknown value).1 He lived at Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A..1 He was Deputy General of the Court representing Billerica and Woburn between 1666 and 1679.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1675 in the service of the Boston Militia.

He was Assistant General of the Court and ex-officio Overseer of Harvard College between 1679 and 1686.1 He held the office of Justice of the First Court of Sessions in 1687.1
