Hyman Leader

Hyman Leader was born in Brookside, AL which was a small mining town just northwest of Birmingham. The family moved to Birmingham and the Leader family resided there when Birmingham was founded. Hyman attended Birmingham public schools and graduated from Gordon Millitary Academy (Georgia). After serving as Advertising Mgr. of THE BIRMINGHAM LEDGER (one of the youngest ad managers of a daily newspaper), he opened his own business - Leader Realty Company - in 1920. He was very successful in that business until the Great Depression.

Open to real estate business in 1920 but close to it during the Great Depression. This business was reopened by his son Jerry leader in 1990.
