BIOGRAPHY Hynek, known as 'der Ältere', was born about 1540, the son of Jan von Wrbna und Freudenthal auf Gross-Herrlitz and Johanka ze Zierotina. He first married his first cousin Rebecca von Wrbna und Freudenthal, daughter of his father's brother Stepán, Herr von Wrbna und Freudenthal, and Magdalena von Kannewurff. Several of their children would have progeny. Rebecca died in 1582, and in 1589 Hynek married Christine von Rogendorff, daughter of Freiherr Wilhelm von Rogendorff and Freiin Anna von Hohenberg.

Hynek ruled Bruntal (Freudenthal) from the death of his elder brother Bernart in 1582. He was the most important owner of the Bruntal estate, enjoying the respect of three emperors Ferdinand I, Maximilian II, and Rudolf II.

Hynek died on 30 April 1596
