Page 26: "A Richard King came to America in 1710. His son, Captain Richard King a successful merchant in Scarboro, Maine, had seven children. One, named Rufus, by his first wife, Isabella Bragdon King, and by his second wife, Mary Black King, William, Ichobod, Cyrus, and Elijah." ...

Pages 28-29 "Icobod King, although not so famous as his brothers William and Rufus, was a veteran of the American Revolution. He married Mary Houston, March 27, 1788. In memory of his brother, he named his son Rufus, (Dr. Rufus King). From that time, seven generations have given their first-born sons the name Rufus.

 The Children of Dr King's son, Rufus Darwin King, who married Rebecca Whitney, were:  
 George Darwin King, Alfred Rufus King, Elbert Watson King, and Minnie Ellen King Record.  
 Children of Alfred Rufus King and Annie Caldwell King are:   Rufus Alfred King (November 20, 1885) Ula Marguerite King Fairfileld (October 20, 1888) Edward Caldwell King (August 4, 1896) Neil Patterson King (September 20, 1898, died July 23, 1926)
