public profile
Ida was born in Germany in 1871, her mother Bertha Raasch and likely a different birth father than Frank Schroeder, who was a few years younger than Bertha. Ida's younger siblings Max and Martha ("great aunt Martha") were born after Bertha and Frank married in 1881 and emigrated to Milwaukee in 1882. Her mother Bertha had one other child no longer living at the time of their emigration. Ida's father Frank worked as a teamster of a coal wagon in Milwaukee. Ida was a tiny woman (in her wedding photo with Albert Wodke, he is sitting and she is standing). Ida and Albert lived at 955 22nd Street (NW corner of 22nd and State, now a parking lot) and then the farm in Brookfield, on Burleigh between Pilgrim and Brady, where there is a charming photo of them picking gooseberries together.
