According to the record in A Karcagi Zsidók Története (Jerusalem, 1977), he was the first member of the Ehrenfeld family to settle in Karcag. His birthplace is listed as Hajdúdörög. He moved to Karcag in 1860 and lived on Madarasi Ut. where he also had a business selling flour and other milled grains. He was an excellent Talmudist, who also gave his children a Jeshiva upbringing, sending them abroad for that. He died in Karcag in 1889 and is buried in the first row at the Jewish Cemetery there.
