Ihaka Paora Braxton Stokes was 14 months old when he was beaten to death. He was a fast crawler and keen climber and was learning to walk... He suffered 59 [injuries] in all, including a wretched catalogue of broken bones: arm, jaw, vertebrae and both shoulder blades – "seen with high-energy trauma such as high-speed motor vehicle accidents," a paediatric radiologist would later say. Troy Kevin Taylor, 22, was the partner of the 15-month old's mother, Mikala Stokes. He was found guilty of assaulting and murdering 14-month-old Ihaka in July 2015.
