Ima Nell Joiner Parker
Ima Nell Joiner Parker passed away at her home in Dothan, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at Byrd Funeral Home Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at 10 a.m. with the Revs. John Clark and Thaxton Whiddon officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing.

Mrs. Parker was born to the late E. A. and Elsie B. Joiner on Dec. 22, 1924, in Houston County. She attended Rehobeth School, and was a lifelong member of Selma Baptist Church.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Cordell Parker; infant son, Charles Anon Parker; two brothers, Declynn Joiner and Lloyd Joiner; and one sister, Faye Wilkinson.
Mrs. Parker, along with her husband, was active in the farming community throughout her adult life. She loved to play golf and travel, including coordinating many trips for the senior adult church group. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Canasta with her sisters and friends. She loved to crochet, quilt and enjoyed antiques.
Mrs. Parker was a caregiver throughout her life, caring for her husband, mother, mother-in-law, and an aunt in her home. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her children, Peggy Coskrey (Jerry), Becky Givens (Kenny), Jimmy Parker (Wanda), Mary Harrell (Kenneth); sisters, Willa Thornton, Melba Capps (Bill), Ruth Benefield; and her daughter, Virginia; special sister-in-law, Ethel Raley; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mrs. Parker's grandsons, Kyle Givens, Brian Coskrey, Karl Givens, Jason Parker, Jeremy Harrell, Kameron Givens and Rusty Lassiter.
