Ing. Bedřich Fauska

My father Bedřich (= Fritz) Fauska came to Palestine (= Erez Israel) 1924 together with my mother as pioneers Chaluzim. After trying to live in various kibuzim, they lived in Tel Aviv, Six weeks after I was born they left the country and went back to Czechoslovakia.

Bedřich was chosen to administrate the Terezin ghetto. He was sent to Auschwitz on 19th October 1944 and from there was sent to the Fürstengrube work camp to work in the mines. An eye-witness saw him shot on 27th January 1945. Emilie Fauska, his wife, died on 19th October 1944 at Auschwitz.
