"Ira K. Shenk, 80, W. Chestnut St., died Thursday at 1:20 a.m. at the Duke Convalescent Home after an illness of six months. He and his wife, Barbara D. Ament Shenk, observed their 58th wedding anniversary Sept. 6. Early in life he was engaged in farming. Later he was employed by the Keppel Candy Co. for 10 years, retiring in 1962. Born in Manor Twp., a son of the late Benjamin F. and Annie Kuhns Shenk, he resided in Lancaster eight years and was a member of the Masonville Mennonite Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by these children, Ralph A., Millersville R1; Ella A., wife of Benjamin P. Henry, Washington Boro R1; Benjamin A., Millersville R1; Roy A., Ruth A., wife of Robert Gerhardt, both of Lancaster; and Ira A., East Petersburg. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Mary, wife of David Mayer, Columbia R1; Elizabeth, wife of Charles Yeager, Lancaster; also two brothers, Phares K., Lancaster R2; and Elam K., Mount Joy."
