Irven M. Barker, a chartered life underwriter and executive with the former Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company for 66 years, died Tuesday (Aug. 13, 1996) at Barnes-Jewish Hospital after a brief illness. He was 88.
A resident of Richmond Heights, Mr. Barker was honored for being the longest-serving agent in the company, now known as Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. Mr. Barker was repeatedly recognized by the firm for being a top producer in life insurance sales.
Mr. Barker was born in and grew up in St. Louis. He was an avid sports fan and golfer. At 84, he scored a hole in one at the Triple A Golf Club.
