About Isaac Alvin Andrew
HISTORY:
Isaac Alvin Andrew was born 16 September 1864 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fredrick Chadwick Andrew and Sarah Ann Humphrey. Not much is known about his early childhood. As a young man he moved to Sublett, Cassia County, Idaho with his mother.
There he farmed, built a small home, and met Sarah Ann Horn. They were married 3 January 1889. She was the daughter of John Horn and Mary Christina Davidson. They farmed in Sublett for several years. Their first baby, William, died at birth. Three children, Fred, Edith and Samuel, were born while they were living in Sublett.
They moved to Canada for a short time but soon returned to Idaho and finally settled in Indian Valley where they farmed raised hay and cattle for their living. They also raised much fruit, berries and vegetables for themselves. He also started his own sawmill on Greg's Creek in the mountains east of Indian Valley. He hauled his lumber/team and wagon to Cambridge, Idaho to sell it.
The rest of his large family were all born in Indian Valley. They were Esther Muriel, Thomas Vance, Stella and, Elda Lucille who died at age 6, Mildred Clare, John William, Ivis Beth, Sherman Dale, and Mary who died at birth. Emma Ruth, Isaac Alvin was highly respected by all his friends and neighbors.
He died 24 September 1924 at his home in Indian Valley. Sarah Ann, his wife, remained in Indian Valley with four children who were still unmarried at the time of his death. She spent most of the remainder of her life there until her death on 24 May 1951.
Little is known of Isaac Alvin's sisters Alice Elizabeth, who was born 12 June 1867. She lived in Salt Lake City and came to Sublett at the time of her mother's death. She was married in 1884, 22 May, to J.W . McDonald. There is knowledge that she visited her brother once in Indian Valley and that she later moved to California but there is no record of her after that.
