About Isaac Few

Includes NotesNotes for Isaac Few,Sr: Came to Pennsylvania from England with his father in 1682, Richard Few. He was 18 years old. At his father's death in 1688 he inherited 220 acres of land in Chester Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, and appeared on the "List of Taxables for the township of Chester for 1693. Quaker Monthly Meeting minutes provided a brief account of the events in the lives of Isaac Few and his Wife Hannah Stanfield. An entry in the Chester minutes, February 01,1689 stated that Isaac Few and Jane Thatcher proposed their marriage intentions; the tense ending with no explanation: " not continued," ten years later," January 27, 1699, Isaac Few and Hannah Stanfield of Marple -- narruage intentions allowed, " was recorded. A move from Chester Township to Kennet after Isaac's father's death read, " 3, 11 mo., 1708, Isaac Few requestes certificate to Kennet , Newark." On 16, 2 mon., 1709, he deeded 180 acres of land in Chester to John Faucett ("Chester County, Deed Book C, page 94").

Isaac Few was amoung the first to take up land in Kennet. The first surveys had been made about 1686, but there were few settlements until after 1700. Isaac Taylor's list of land surveys in 1703 showed Isaac Few owned 600 acres on Brandywine Creek ("Futhey and Cope, Chester County , Pennsyvania, Page 179).

He died intestate in 1734. After the oldest son Richard assigned his rights of administration to his brother James, letters of administration were granted to James on his posting1,500 pounds bond with Daniel Webb and John Pasomon, 22 October 1734 ("Chester County administration Docket 1, page 145")

Chester County Deeds Book "C" Page 95: This indenture made the 16th day of 4th month called April in the 7th year of the Rein of our sovereign Lady Queen Anne of Great Brittain, France and Ireland Anno Dom 1709. Between Isasc Few llate of the townof Chester of the one part and John Fawcett of the Township of Rigley, Carpenter of the other part witnesseth. F 160 good current silver money- all that messuage or demesne where the said Isaac did lately dwell situate in the township of Chester afsd. with tract of land belonging to said messuage along Chester creek to Ridley Brook- 180 acres, signed Isaac Few, Witnesses Henry Hollingworth, John Simcock , James ??
