About Isaac (Sakkie) Katzenellenbogen
Isaac (Sakkie) Katzenellenbogen born in Wolseley on September 12, 1921, and died July 19, 2012, succeeded his father at Wolseley where he ran a general goods store and the Wolesely Hotel, married on January 1, 1948 to Peggy Katz born April 14, 1925. He was the Mayor of Wolseley from 1969-79. During his approximately ten year tenure as town mayor he escorted the South African State President Fouche during the Wolseley 1976 Centenary activities. After the hotel was sold they moved to Johannesburg where he worked for Macsteel for some years before retiring. When the town of Wolseley built a new bridge over the railway line close to the hotel, they named it Sakkie Katzenellenbogen Road in Wolseley.
