ISAAC SPENCER son of Moses born in South Berwick around 1735. He was a lumberman with his father and brothers, He married Susannah York around1756. She was the daughter of Samuel and Joanna(Skillings)York. Their first child David was born in Kennebunk in 1757. Elizabeth their second child was also born in Kennebunk in 1759. Mary their third child was born 1762 in Vassalborough. Isaac settled on lot 76 in Vassalborough(Sidney) by early 1762. Their next 3 children Susan, Isaac Jr, and William were all born in Vassalborough (Sidney). Isaac purchased land in Hancock Plantation (Benton) in 1768. It was the southern part of Great Lot M-2 and was ½ mile wide and 2 miles deep. It started at the Sebasticook river and the south line ran Easterly along the present Albion road in Benton. He probably started harvesting lumber from this land soon after he purchased it. In 1797 Isaac and his son Isaac Jr were operating a saw mill on the east bank of the Sebasticook about 2 miles north of Benton Falls. Isaac was Captain of the Clinton militia from 1799 until 1808. Isaac died in Clinton(Benton) in 1814. He was probably buried in the Reed cemetery near where he lived.
