"From 1781 he was the Imperial Court Agent with responsibility for supplying munitions to and raising money for the German Emperor and his Minister Metternich. He died in Offenbach on 4 December 1807. He has accumulated 420,000 guilders, which was the largest fortune so far possessed by any Frankfurt Jew. Its main source had been profits from exchange broking and the supplying of military equipment during the French invasion. At this point even Mayer Amschel Rothschild's fortune only amounted to 60,000 guilders and at no point in his lifetime did his fortune equal even half as much as that of Isaak [b] Michael Speyer."
